1987 starting problem

Can't figure out why my xj wont start sometimes I thought it might be the starter but its not? Any suggestions

Engine: 12 hole bosch Injectors

starter just turns the motor over fuel air and spark starts it ,explain more in detail

Well the engine turns over sometimes then other times it makes a clicking noise and doesn't turn over

If you're sure it isn't the starter, the next thing I'd do is cap/rotor/wires. Mine intermittently started and then just one day didn't, $60 later and some new parts and she fires right up.

Alright. thank you for the help ill try that n see if that works
