1985 cherokee xj v8 swap????

i have a 1985 jeep cherokee xj with the 2.8l v8 in it rite now and i want to swap the 350 v8 into the jeep but some people on another forum said that the unibody frame will not hold up to the v8s power have you guy heard anything about that??

zj's are unibody and they come with v8's so I don't see where it would be a problem.

You mean the 2.8 v6 correct?

The problem with those older v6 models is the engine compartment is smaller (due to it not needing as much depth) so you are going to have a considerably hard time fitting that v8 in. Additionally cooling the v8 is a very hard problem in the XJ.

Ive done some studing on the engine bay's and it looks like just the radiator and flange needs changed to a 4.0 then there would be alot of room. A 4.0 comes stock with as much horsepower and torque as a 350 so seemed to me like a 4.0 swap is a much cheaper swap. Or be lazy like me and go buy a 4.0 jeep.

i agree go for a late model 4.0 HO. they get like 225tq @ 3k rpm, and if you get a 2000+ish yuo get distributorless ignition
