I just recently bought a stock 85 cherokee with 2.5 carburated engine and 5-speed tranny.had it about a week to find a stop leak patched up cylinder crack.i wasnot really concerned at first i thiught i could just get one from a junk yard cheap.I now know that these engines r extreamly hard to get.I can get a rebuilt engine 4 about 1400$.The problem is i was not wanting to spend that much on the jeep.I am only going to drive it deer hunting.NOW TO THE QUESTION. IS THERE ANY OTHER ENGINE THAT I COULD DROP IN IT AS CHEAP AND EASY ASBUYING THE REBUILT 2.5 FROM AUTOZONE?

 

research doing a 3.4 swap in a 2.8 v6 powered cherokee... would be real close to the same since the bellhousings are the same.
