1984 Cherokee Chief 2dr
I have an 84 cherokee Chief 2dr 2.5L. I am having a problem with my carburetor and wonder if anyone can help? I was driving down the road and all of a sudden when shifting I noticed the rpms would stay at 2500, I tried to tap the pedal in case something was stuck preventing the throttle from returning to normal but nothing happened, further on down the road all of a sudden it was as if something broke and the rpms kept revving up and werent stopping so i had to turn it off for fear of blowing the engine. now as soon as I turn it on it goes to full throttle. I have changed the spring on the carburetor for a stronger one so I know its not that, any Ideas?

That is wierd, Unhook the throttle cable and the kick down cable (if it's a automatic) then hold the choke open with a screwdriver. check all vac ports on the carb and intake to see if you have any vac leaks. Also check the big hose that runs to your brake booster. Then post up and tell us what happens.
