16" wheels for xj
I want 16 inch wheels for my 92 xj and I might be too cheap to buy new ones :0).
I have found stock wrangler 16 inch wheels for acceptable prices but I dont know if the bolt pattern is the same.
I am wondering what other vehicles have the 5- 4.5 lug pattern or if the wrangler wheels will work.
Forgive my ignorance I am new to this jeep stuff.
Thanks, Bryan

i was looking for a set myself recently
Grand Cherokees till 98
Wrangles till 05 (pre JK)
Any Liberty
there are a lot of fords with the 5 on 4.5 but the hub is smaller on them so they dont fit but most after market wheels will.

So long as they are post CJ, but pre-2007, they should work fine. I believe the YJ's were 5x4.5, and I know the Wranglers went to 5x5 in 2007 and up.

Thanks guys, my plan is to trim my fenders, install a 2 inch lift and put 235/85/16 tires ( I like the tall skinnies).
irongrave, are you the one with the black XJ that did the write up on trimming fenders? If so thats how I want my jeep to look.

Just a thought, I put 16" wheels on my 98 XJ with 235/70/16's the tires hit the lower control arms pretty bad. I use 1.25" spacers and all is well now.

I just found some black soft 8 16's on ebay for 336.00, I dont know what the backspacing is. I guess I will have to be careful... I may find a good deal on stock rims of some sort then end up spending more than new rims because I may need spacers.

I got a set of 16" wheels from an '01 Explorer that fit. Like mentioned above, the hub hole was a bit too small, but 5 minutes with a file fixed that. I use them for my snow tires 245/75R16.
I also got a set of 16" wheels I think from a Jeep Liberty that fit, but 2 of them are damaged, so I haven't used them until I can maybe find another pair.
The Explorer wheels have better backspacing, so they don't rub on the lower control arms.
