The GM 12 bolt is full width and not worth putting in a XJ..

ok so...

youre gonna be running two (very) different width axles, with (probably) two different gear ratios, and two different bolt pattens.

good luck failing.

Whats there to try.. Chevy axle is about 6" wider, alos has 6 x5.5 bolt pattern. More then likely the gears are 307

are you going to do a full width front as well if not this will wreck havoc on your jeep running two different width axles.

I understand that you got a free axle. But if you have to buy one to match the front why not get a Ford 8.8 that has disk brakes? YOu are still only buying one axle and some of the 8.8 come with the same gears that are in your rearend now. Much easier and more practicle.
