My rear CCV elbow on the 01 XJ was clogged and the rubber grommet in the valve cover was hard as a rock. So, I decided to change them both. Of course, as everyone already knows, both items came out in pieces. In the process of removing the the rubber joint connecting the plastic CCV to the plastic tube that connects it to the intake, the rubber boot cracked. I called the stealership and they want $80 for this little rubber piece and the part isn't available at any of the auto parts store around here. I re-installed it, but there was a vacuum leak. I measured the OD of the cracked rubber end that connects to the CCV joint. That measurement is 11/16 of an inch. I retrieved a piece of 11/16 inch ID rubber hose from the garage, cut it just a bit longer than the the crack in the existing rubber sleeve, used a little dish soap to lube it up, slid it over the existing rubber sleeve (it was a tight fit) and installed (2) hose clamps. The crack was completely covered by the new rubber. It's installed on the Jeep and there is no longer a vacuum leak. Problem solved until I can find the correct part at a reasonable price. Looks to be a fairly common problem , so I thought I'd take a couple pics and post up my solution.
