01 Cherokee Maintenance Question??
I have a 2001 and I'll just tell you what I use and you can take it for what it's worth.
Oil - Valvoline MaxLife 10w40, every 5,000
Oil Filter - Mopar M090, with oil change
Air Filter (k&n with stock air filter box) - with a K&N, just buy the recharge kit and clean & re-oil it every 10,000 or so. Otherwise I change my paper filter every 15,000 (or when needed)
Spark Plugs - NGK ZFR5N - every 20,000 (or when needed)
Tranny Fluid - Valvoline MaxLife Dex/Merc - every 20,000
T-Case Fluid - Valvoline ATF+4 - every 20,000
Diff Oil (front & rear) - 75w90 synthetic front & 75w140 synthetic rear - every 20,000
Lubricate Steering Linkage & Suspension Ball Joints - NLGI #2 GC-LB, every 5,000
Flush/Replace Engine Coolant - Zerex G-05; every 20,000 or 18 months
Rotation - every 5,000
Balance, Alignment - when needed
Everyone seems to have their own maintenance schedule and favorite brands, so do your research on here and through Google. Stay away from the parts that are a bunch of hype or known to cause problems and adopt what YOU feel is best for your rig, climate, driving style, mileage and budget.
And may God bless you as well!

Thanks man just what i needed! Great info! Ive been working on my maint list but its always good to know what someone else treats their rig with.. Hows the 10w40 for u doing? I use 10w30 with mine still with 78,645 miles. Whats the difference between 30 and 40?? I know 40 is a bit thicker like for warm weather and the thinner oil is for cold weather. Temp year-round around here is always from 60-100 degrees and rare droping to 50s and 40s.. Do u use 40 because u do alot of driving or offroad or it last longer or whats the deal? Im always up for helpful hints and tips to make my rig better and last longer.
No problem, glad I could help. I live in Hawaii at the moment and 40 seems to be the ideal oil for my climate. Some run thicker Rotella and some run 5w30 in the north. But from what I've noticed in my experience, read on here and on Bob is the Oil Guy, the 4.0L seems to have a more stable oil pressure, run quieter and smoother with 40. I used to run Castrol GTX High Mileage 10w30, however after reading up on Valvoline MaxLife and weight on the above website, I switched and the Jeep has been happier since, IMO.

It is not that drastic of a difference. The startup cold weight is the same at 10 and once warm it is a little thicker at 40 vs. 30. It's not anything like going from 0w20 to 15w40 or anything, lol.
Yea im giving the 40 a try next time see how that works out. Hey thanks for all the info man i gladly apreciate it. God bless!
