So i did some searching on with the search tab and couldn't find an answer to my question.

Like many other XJs, mine is running hot during normal driving, usually around 220*/230*. I know there's 3 core radiators that I can buy but really can't afford it. I also know that some install 180 and 195* thermostats but I also hear that is just a bandaid and can change gas millage.

My question is, Can i hardwire my secondary radiator fan to the ignition so whenever I turn on my XJ it turns on too?

I've also done a little researching and it seems that there were a lot of complaints about the XJ's Fan breaking apart and screwing stuff up under the hood around 100-130k miles. Probably a good Idea to change out the main fan?

all ideas and tips would be appreciated. at the moment I'm running my stock intake propped as a shortram intake while I've propped the hood in such a way where there's a good 3/4" opening next to the intake to force cool air into the bay w/o the hood flying up. (i don't drive over 45mph usually so i'm not too worried) It seems to help a little bit, but it's just a bandaid for now.

oh, please understand that I do understand that the BEST option would be to upgrade to a 3 core radiator and such. and I do plan on doing so, I'm just looking for some here and now fix. I'm doing a 6 hour drive in 2 weeks and would like to be a little safer minded thanks!
