Default Slow server response

I have a problem that I think is on your end. I love the forum. However about half the time the server seems to not respond. I have a data stream monitor on my broadband which works very well for other forums. Other sites come up quickly with rates as high as 1500 kbytes. However now at 4:00AM Pacific time, as well as last night and the past two days I will click on a button and get a data stream of 102 kbytes immediately, which is the header. And then it will just sit there. My computer will query the server several times. This goes on for several minutes, time for a quick game of solitaire, then the server will respond with about 150 kbytes and fill the rest of the page. Since my cpu is querying the server, I am going to assume the problem is on your end. Prior to this there was a two week time period in which the pages came up quickly. Then prior to that there was the typical slow response. So the question is: what can be done about this.

OK Moderators, what's up with the twenty minute time it takes to actually post something? Love the forum, but really, this renders it unusable for me.

When mine does that I go under "Tools" and dump the cookies. It's like lightning after that.

I will will point nathan and jon to this. Unfortunately we have no control over the server or the connection. So I will report it to Jon and Nathan so they can look at it for you.

I have the same problem at times...

I have the most problems when the google ads are flashy moving type.

The problem has been growing at this site. And doesnt occur on others that don't allow the ads of that style.

The overall server load is pretty low and I've heard no complaints on the other sites that I run on the server. Is it getting caught up on a specific script or does it slowly load the whole page? I'm not seeing an issue on my end so it's hard to diagnose.

The interesting thing is that today it is ripping right along. Maybe the Gremlins feel threatened. I'm running a Mac OS, so I don't have some of the same problems as you. As I stated I can monitor the data streams in and out. There is just no data coming from the server. The interesting is that the header comes up immediately and then it just sits there with several queries from my CPU before the rest of the page loads. So my conclusion is that it is a server problem.

I still think the problem's on your end. I have Firefox and it runs a scan daily. I still have to remove cookies when things start running slowly. After that it just zips right along. JMO. Dan.

I actually have the same issue on occasion. I think it has to do with the route taken to get to the server. 4.3LXJ could you do me a favor and the next time it does that run taceroute or tracert which ever Mac users. I know it's similar to Linux/Unix just not sure what Apple calls the command itself. I'd like to see a route table you take to get to the server just for comparison sake.
