Yes, that is what he is saying. It does get frustrating when someone asks a question, and we need that info to give them an answer, and they don't provide it.

I don't think we can require it though, but most should know that they need to put the info in the post in order for us to help!!

I do not believe the forum should REQUIRE the info but it should be stressed that members fill out the info in thier profile so it can be displayed.

This way when they post questions about thier XJ, fellow members can easily see if its either a Renix-era, 4.0L, 4-banger, etc.
This will allow a more informed reply and quite possibly a CORRECT answer to thier question...faster.

yeah i dont think it should be required but can get frustrating when trying to help. even in the for sale section when someone is selling something and doesnt tell where they are from. thats kind of annoying. but some people are also new to forums when they ask questions so i can see where they might now think about it.

I know from experience that a lot of noobs don't realize that the above mentioned info is essential when seeking help/advice. Much the same way they seem to avoid using the search feature. A case of live and learn I guess.

Well I can see needing Jeep info in profile but requiring anyone to post in public where they live isn't going to happen. Many folks do not want others know where they live. Now IMHO if you want tech help and you don't either post your jeep info via your profile or in the thread you deserve a knot on the head.

posting what state you live in is far from telling every one your address
and it is needed to answer some questions

like the guy that wants info on how to get a OHV registration

Maybe the website should requier...wait I mean require you to get your panties un-wadded before visiting this forum? I think that would be more helpful.
