Forum edict: If your a newbie introduce yourself first. Don't just come on here and ask a question without any type of intro, that seems rather rude to me, this is not an online Haynes book its a community of people who share there like of the Cherokee. Everybody on here is willing to help of course but the friendlier you are the more help you likely to get. I hope I'm not out of line here but thats my opinion.

I agree it is probably the best avenue. Although sometimes folks login just to ask a question and are not interested in being a permanent face on the site. Although I'd rather see folks introduce themselves and become a part of the community not every user will do that nor want to do that. So as much as I'd like that I still want all users to feel welcome to ask a question and get an answer even if they do not want to be apart of the community.

Most of the time when I answer a question from someone that hasn't introduced themselves I simply add, "and Welcome to CF", at the end of my reply.

Could an introduction possibly be a requirement for activating an account?
And I might add that it would be nice if a person registering has to say where they are from. If not the city, at least say the state. This would be handy for folks that are wanting to buy and sell items.

x2^^.
There should be a survey they have to fill out in order to get access to the tech section LOL. And a full walk-through on how to search.
I stay out of the tech sections more than I used to because of this. I help who I can but when the same questions keep getting asked its hard to type one or 2 answers 7-10 different ways a day.
Could yall do an automatic welcome thread like on xjtalk and add a survey to send in as a PM before you access their account LOL?...

I still think we should have an FAQ section and a hidden activation word in there .... so you can prove that you read the FAQs before posting.
Saw that done on another (now defunct) site and thought it was a good idea.
