Default The dead thread dig-ups

I enjoy catching trailertrash' zombie thread replies as often as they come up but potentially ? Could you time out a thread and automatically change the font color to say Red? Sticky for what makes up a dead thread in age and the font color change and problem solved? Realistically not really solved but it's something

I posted a suggestion on how to possibly stop dead thread revivals in October of 2022. All the single post dead thread revivals make me hate coming to this forums these days.

Internet brands is working on a fix like other forums have. It's a pain for sure.
Perhaps someone from IB will chime in.

As much as I also hate the irrelevant zombie thread revivals, I do occasionally find it useful to bump a very old thread to reignite conversation about a topic. There is some good information in old threads. Most everything I've learned about Jeeps is from reading 20 year old threads on here, NAXJA, Jeep Forum, Pirate4x4, Expedition Portal, etc.

Without a hard lock-out from being able to post, I don't think there is a good solution because many of the first-time-poster thread revivalists are likely spam/bots/scammers/whatever and they won't abide by any warnings or rules.

What if it was locked behind a post count?

There is a good solution and it is used on car forums all over the place.

IB has been provided such examples over a year ago.

Yup, we asked IB to implement this long ago. Instead we get dark mode and spam bots.

The solution is simple. After 90 days of inactivity, threads get automatically locked. If the thread is relevant to your post or needs to be referenced, post screen shots or a direct link to the thread.
make the member build thread subforum an exception. Some builds last years with little progress.

Untill then...

It's refreshing to catch a few replies so quickly, there's clearly a small group of frequent flyers here that tend to have fingers in toes in the majority of the replies to these threads anyway. Also good to see I'm not the only one buggered by the dig ups.

Don't get me wrong TT's zombie pic does the job so i suppose we have that.

We had some team turnover and requests from the business side that shifted some project priorities, including implementing the deterrent for bumping old threads. I actually reintroduced the idea to our current Product team about two weeks ago and they're working on placing it onto our roadmap. So it is in fact coming, I'm just waiting on a concrete timeframe I can provide.

I know it's been a thorn in your sides, so definitely appreciate the patience thus far!

This is good to hear. Wish it didn't take a thread like this to communicate to us admin and mods though. News to us...appreciate it but communication would go a long way.
