Get a Forest Service Map....it will list all of the legal routes within the forest. Here's two motorized vehicle maps for Shawnee:

Sequoia National Forest, day trips mainly, easy trails class 5 of less. Shaver Lake/Dinkey Creek area Over night trips, going to Brewer Lake and Spanish Lakes in July. Play at Pismo Dunes, while the wife is shopping. Big Bear and Lytle Creek when I go to SoCal.

This fall I am planning a Visalia, California to Las Vegas run, with minimal pavement travel. Did Cucamonga, California to Las Vegas about 10 years ago with less than 5% pavement usage, actualy when up to Orem Utah on this trip.

It's a shame, living in a rural area, that there aren't more areas to offroad.
jeepinvw.com they got plenty of places for you

Iron Range OHV park is really the hardest area in MN to legally ride. Park is located in Gilbert, MN. About 60 miles north of the tip of lake superior. It used to be a active iron mine dump. Lots of rocks, some mud.

Northern MN Jeepers are cutting a new GIA trail 4 miles from the park that should be open to the public in 2011. Awesome natural rock and awesome views of northern MN at its finest.
