Best bet is Carnegie State Vehicular Recreation Area off corral hollow road in tracy. theres Prairie city. Prairie city is more for 4x4s. while as at Carnegie 4x4s are restricted to valley floor and its rare to find a time i think when they let 4x4s get in for their own wheelin time in the Open area.

Havent been to Prairie city with a 4x4 yeat. Anybody know if i need any permits or tags to get in? i have my tags and registration for my xj. besides the entrance fee is there anything i need to get in? i dont want to drive an hour to two hours only to be turned away at the gate.

When i was last there yes they open up a part of it for 4x4 use. Kinda rare to see it opened to 4x4s but generally 4x4s are limited to the valley floor. i only seen a couple of good mudholes there. one in particular had some fantastic mud in it. i attempted to ride thru it lol got boged down and couldnt even pick up the damn bike without slippin all over the place lol quite the sight . havent been there since my bikes broke. lol last time i went it was to teach my lil sister how to ride. i attempted to ride the 125 that had a cracked gas tank with my broken foot. no bueno. lol Did not end well.
You guys could try forest hills. they have a trail there thats known for "Mud Mountain." may seem simple to some or most of you but it is certainly a pain when u get jammed at the wrong angle.
