Default Leading Klondike Bluffs

Date: October 10, 2008

Friday was my day to lead a trail. I had volunteered to lead the Klondike Bluffs trail earlier this year for the event. A few weeks earlier Amanda and I had come down to Moab and pre-ran this trail along with the alternate exit along Copper Ridge that I took so that I could get it into my GPS. The Klondike Bluffs trail is not a difficult trail and the group we had was not as big as I was expecting, so we were planning on finishing a bit early this day so that everyone would have some time to relax before heading to the big dinner and raffle in town that night.

Once we made it to the end of the trail, we parked our rigs for lunch while some of us hiked into Arches National Park to a nice overlook in the Klondike Bluffs.

There were a lot of potholes filled with water from a recent rain.

Once we made it back to the copper mine from our hike, we relaxed for a little bit and then headed back out the way we came.

Crossing the crack on the way back

On our way back we took an alternate route that kept of off of the pavement for a while. We followed part of the Copper Ridge Jeep Trail. This was mostly some high speed driving, so I didn't stop for any pictures

Great trail when it's dry, when it's wet...not so much.
