Default COS's Annual Labor Day Outting:

We headed up to Taylor Park for our annual Labor Day camping wheeling trip. We had intentions of running Taylor Pass to Pearl Pass to Italian Creek road, and back to camp on day 1, and on day 2, we were going to run Scholfield Pass to Crystal City to Lead King Basin......plans changed!! LOL!! We had a few mechanical issues that changed our itinerary!! We only wound up running Taylor and Pearl passes, but they didn't disappoint!! This was the 3rd time we have ran Taylor Pass, so we kinda blazed through it, with only a few shots along the way. Pearl is, in a word, indescribable!! Words nor photos can express the beauty of this area, but I took pictures anyway!! LOL!! I may be adding more when I get the discs from the others in our group this weekend. Here is what I have so far:

The views leaving Buena Vista, heading up Cottonwood Pass are pretty nice!!
You can see an old drive movie theater that is outside of BV:

This one...not so much!! Me on the left, with two good friends, that happen to be brothers:

Stacking up in front of the Taylor Park General Store, before we got to the campsite:

Our campsite, and some views from it:

Some shots as we went through Pearl Pass. This is on of the most spectacular places I have ever been, and trust me when I say the pictures due it no justice!!

You'll notice that in a lot of the pictures the leaves are already turning, I have never seen it happen this early in the year!!

This sign was a bit concerning, but the bridge seemed fine, so we crossed. I don't know if it is a joke or what, but I wanted to get a picture of it regardless:

Some shots of a stream & water fall at that bridge, nice!!

If you guys see redundant pictures, be patient, this is a lot of pics to share, and it is a major PITA to really see which ones are which on my PB page. I'll be going through these posts to proof all of them, and getting it all fixed up if I find anything. Enjoy!!

Those pictures are great! I cant wait to be back in CO around early June this coming summer. Do you need anything extra to camp out there or was that a designated camp site?

Glad you guys like the pictures, it was a great trip!! We always camp in the national forests. We do not like to camp in established camp areas, too many people to annoy us, and vise versa!! LOL!! Besides, it's free to camp on NF land, and as long as you follow the rules, leave no trace, and all is good!!

Man how beautiful....I enjoy wheeling here in the east tons of fun....But to put together a trip like that, wheeling, scenery, camping, etc etc would be amazing. Some of the trip reports from people in the west are epic journeys that cover hundreds of miles. Just can;t find that around here.
