Default Looking for a stock exhaust!

Looking for a stock exhaust for a 1988 Jeep Cherokee running from the cat back to the tailpipe in good condition. Little or no rust; something I can just bolt on and go with.

I bought a nice truck from a guy in NJ about 2 years ago. He told me he had maintained it "really well" and done all kinds of maintenance on it, but had "driven it hard" at the same time. It looked good on the surface, had a bit of rust here and there, handled well, and a friend who had come along told me it was worth the price, so I took it.

Been fixing it ever since. Took good care of it my @$$! So! I recently began feeling some extra vibration underneath and taking a look, saw that the single support for the exhaust had broken free, and that the pipe itself had snapped loose right behind the cylinder. I also noticed a rather large hole in the cylinder, so I'm wondering if I hit something on the road... I didn't feel anything... (damn Jeeps and running over things without noticing! xD)

If anyone who changed up their exhaust for something better in the vicinity of Long Island or thereabouts is interested in clearing some garage space, let me know, ok? I need this ASAP, so I'll be checking back on this every day. Hope to see something soon!

There is lots you can do.

Including using clamps to hold it all together.

Post a pic so we can see what your working with. Exhaust parts are really cheap, any NAPA or AdvanceAuto or Autozone will have something for you.

As Gee mentioned flex pipe and band clamps are your best friends.

Want some pics? Well, ok. They're pretty ugly though.

This is where the pipe connects to the rest of the system, just before the cat. It's mainly just a mass of rust waiting to break loose.

This is where the hanger should be. Instead, they welded it directly to the tailpipe, and whatever shock caused the pipe to break made the hanger punch a hole in the pipe as well. It's literally hanging on there now.

This is the actual break, just past the clamp (another hunk of rust) behind the main body of the muffler. I didn't take a picture of it, but there's a long scrape-like indent in the muffler itself that is surrounded by rust and ends in a long hole as well.

As you can see, this thing wasn't taken care of at all; I'm almost sure it's the same exhaust it had when it was first made. It's my fault as well; I didn't pay nearly enough attention to it, letting my friend's advice that all was fine lead me to think it would last for a while instead of constantly checking it. But yeah... I need a new one now.
