I believe it is painted.... but not exactly sure.
The painting is under a thick layer of gloss. This is an actual pool ball so the logo has been made to take a bit of a beating while playing pool without scratching. I have yet to see one scratch.

I have had mine for some time now. Zero marks or dings. I actually wear a ring on my right ring finger. It's tough and heavy. I usually mark up any shift **** I put in my car. Even steel ones. This one is completely fine....could box up and sell as new I bet. It's that nice still. No scratches, marks, dings of any kind. Great qaulity.
