Basically change all your electrical plugs to the old EV-1 style.

OK quick update. I mentioned in an earlier post adapters that will allow 784 injectors to fit in older XJs. After 2 days of actually installing 784 injectors in older XJs of various years using these adapters I have found the following.

For an XJ from 1987-1992 they fit right in with no problem of any kind.

For XJs from 1992-1996 they fit fine with the exception you need to turn the 3rd injector back towards the firewall a bit so the plug is about the 2:00 position instead of straight up (12:00). I do this in my own '94.

For XJs from 1996-1998 (Only some 96's it seems) which use a fatter electric plug these adapter will only work if you DO NOT have cruise control. The plug and adapter will fit up between the bracket and cable in the 12:00 position. The cruise control cable runs right thru this spot so it prevents it from working if you have cruise.

If you have the bigger plug as on 97-98 and some late 96's shown on the left the adapters will only work if you don't have cruise. If you have the smaller plug on the right in this photo you are fine.

Yes 784's are a direct swap out for a 99' with no mods required.

LOL thanks. Basically I take them apart except the micro-filters and put them in a pile in my sink and blast them with some fast orange citrus degreaser and let them sit a couple of minutes then I take a tooth brush to them with more spray to rinse them off. Then I dry them off, remove the micro-filters and toss them in a bath of injector concentrate all night.

Luckily the kinds of cars these things come out of the injectors are in a spot where they don't normally get real oily or dirty.

Default All caught up

Thanks for all the response to my injector ad. As of right now I have all the sets I had paid for shipped so if you ordered any from me they are on the way. Even though I have a bunch more injectors I need a few days to get some cleaned and rebuilt so if any of my fellow injector dealers off the site ( no rdplz, x91j, etc) have any ready to go and are reading this please feel free to PM the more recent guys who posted a message on my thread so they are'nt waiting around for me. If however anyone wishes to wait til later in the week when I get caught up on my cleaning please send me a PM and I'll add you to my list. Thanks.

What is the difference between the 703 & 784 because I have a mid year production 1996 so I'm not sure what one will work for me.

Hello. The 703 and 784 injectors are the same body just with different electrical plugs on the side. They changed to the newer EV-6 plug in late 1998 so with a '96 you have the older style. However you can use either injector provided you got a set of EV-6 to EV-1 adapters.
