That is what it actually means. Part time should not be kept in 4 wheel all the time and full time means it cab be kept in 4 wheel all the time. You either have a 231 if you have part time only and 242 if you have full time. Was that honestly a serious question?

I'm gonna stop cluttering up the sellers thread, questions should be posted elsewhere. I apologize. Best of luck with the sale.

It's all right it's not for sale anymore. I got a job so I can upgrade it and get A/C, carpet, etc.

wow, rude... Any idiot can read the difference between "part time" and "full time." I'm trying to dig a little deeper. What I'm asking is what is the MECHANICAL difference between the two selections that makes it ok to run in 4wd all the time without risk of damage..

In 4 Full time, the center differential is open just like the front and rear differentials, so at any given time if you go off road with 4 Full Time, you can send power to only one wheel due to the unlocked center differential. On the road, you can drive with it because the center differential is unlocked thus not binding when turning on the pavement like in 4 Part Time.

In 4 Part Time, the center differential is locked so when off road and stuck 2 wheels (1 front and 1 rear) will spin.
