I went to a muffler shop today and mentioned putting a high flow cat on my cherokee and he told me that when a cat isnt heavy duty that it makes cherokee throw back a check engine light. Do you know if this is true with these? Im thinking about ordering one with a magnaflow muffler/pipe kit. Would this be legal in WA or throw back any malfuntion problems?

That being said I haven't heard of Jeeps having an issue with that but I'm not going to say you will be fine because it will vary depending on how yours runs. Usually it's Honda and GM that have issues with the CEL on late 90's vehicles. Anything after 2000 I would use a heavy load converter.

I received my cat Wednesday and it is a sweet piece. Haven't installed yet due to other issues with the XJ, but plan on getting to it this weekend. Good price and fast shipping...Thanks.

Sorry but I believe the manufacturer over some random guys word. Any converter that has a higher CFM rating than the OE converter is a high flow converter. OE converters have 700 holes per square inch, aftermarket converters use 400 holes per square inch. Fewer and larger holes = more flow. True Performance converters will feature 300 holes or less (like our metallic substrate part number 415225)

It is just a Myth.
I would just advise anyone to Google High Flow Cat and research it as I did.
Its kinda like the Hydrogen for gas thing from water.
If you want power get a better exhuast.
Just a quick search.

even if its not technically a hi flow cat, these are still only 36$ compared to a oe or oem manufacturers $100+...so i would still go for one of these.
and because my jeep is a 92...i dont have to worry about a check engine light.
