You have a HP D30 front, it will have to have the same ratio for your 4wd to work so unless someone changed the axle before you, it will be 3.55. You will need a new carrier for 3.73+ gears for your D30 because of the carrier break.

I'm looking at buying one of your kits, but have a question. Do I need to buy a new carrier(s) or will I only need the front/rear kits and install kits? And/or is there anything else I need to buy to complete the regear? This is for regearing a '96 XJ to 4.56. It currently has an 8.25 corporate rear axle with 3.55 ratio and the front axle is a "230mm front axle" according to the build sheet for the Jeep. Am I correct in assuming that is a Dana 30 and the gear ratio is the same as the rear (build sheet doesn't tell me the gear ratio of the front axle)?
The rear does not require one.
Yes you have a high pinion Dana 30.
Yes front and rear gears must match ratio.
