went to get it smogged this morning, and it failed!!!

 

I like the exo cage

 

I had to get emissions on mine as well and thought it would fail but pulled through. Any plans on what to do to get it to pass? Good Luck!

hi I just got mine smoged last month it failed I meen gross polluter failed all is was was to rich from a bad O2 sensor,what did the smog shop say why it failed

 

I hate CA smog laws!!!!

 

my first question for you is why did you buy a car without having the seller smog it? If I'm not mistaken it's the sellers responsibility to have it done. i could be wrong of course. Looks like a capable rig, but if you can't drive it. Purpose defeated.
start first with sensors. Then check valve and head gaskets. I was told the older Xj's had manifold and exhaust issues. If all that fails. Make friends with a smog tech.
They should have told ya what part of the smog test if failed. So you can address the issue.
California smog sucks for a reason. Look at China. We'd have the same air quality if it weren't for the restrictions.

It is the seller's responsibility, but ppl still buy without having them smog. Yes it sucks to have such strict smog but it does help. How did it fail? High HC? NOx?
