Have you ever rebuilt an XJ engine? Is it possible to do it without having to lift the engine? Ive found one which is in great condition but need of a rebuild which im willing to do.

Just want to say thanks for all the input, its really helpful and sorry if I ask a lot of questions.

Are spring perches an easy job for welding? Im not a welder but I found a jeep that is in great condition minus bad brake lines and needs new front axle spring perches.

Hey no problem! Unfortunately, I don't have a lot of knowledge on replacing spring perches either. Hopefully someone can help you.

I finally got one! It needs a few changes and touch ups but pretty solid, rides great, engine string with a little over 200K on it. I might also have a spare motor coming so this is a great start for 1200!

Sounds good! I'm just waiting for some parts to come in currently so I can get my XJ back on the road. It's currently sitting on a lift with the wheels off and radiator out. Shop I work on it at is in Wrentham, if that's not too far. Got most the stuff that's needed for projects except a cherry picker.

Thanks JT!

FallenDown, Wrentham is pretty close, Im about 45 min from the outlets. Once I get a little more familiar with the jeep I'm going to start getting the engine running like new but I'll be around if you ever need a hand!

Sure thing! Let me know if you wanna put your jeep up on the lift. It's always good to take a look at everything from underneath.

It varies, but I have a pretty open schedule. Weekdays and weekends. Sometimes I head over there early in the morning, or if I'm feeling lazy I'll head over there after noon. Shop's on a farm, so it's not too busy. I haven't been there since last week cause I'm waiting on some parts to come in and it looks like they won't be here til Monday, unless they get here earlier. So I can't really do any work on it til the parts come in. We could set something up after they come in whenever you're free if you wanna shoot me a pm.
