Help Vibration after new leaf springs and small Lift
First of all I am sorry if I am doing this wrong. Never posted before and I hope this makes it in the right area.
So the specs of the issue.
1992 Jeep Cherokee auto 4x4 4.0 with new "Heavy Duty" leaf springs from ebay and a 2" add a leaf springs in the read and 2" metal spacers in the front. Also installed new shocks. Once we installed the new leaf springs and 2" lift I seem to have a slight vibration once I hit about 20mph and gets seems to get faster the faster I go in the rear . Also at higher speeds around 50mph it will start to make a funny noise (hard to describe but kinda like a clunking) when I feather off the gas pedal. Any ideas? I wouldn't think this small of a lift would have this much of an effect on the Pinion alignment would it? I really don't want to dump any more money into this as it was a free jeep and right now I am just using it as a commuter to keep off the miles on my truck. I can take pictures of anything on the Jeep if this would help. Please advise. I really appreciate it

Not that I could tell. The shocks were OEM with 150k on them and the springs were in worse shape. I guess it could have masked the vibration. Anything else you can think that would make this?

I am in the exact situation. after I installed my 2" lift I get bad vibes (20-30 then again 50-60) I replaced all u-joints and installed a 1" t-case drop. this got rid of them for the most part I still have a little bit when I go up hills.
This Friday I am installing AAL in the read as my leaf springs are bent backwards (I believe this is the cause of the vibes as my pinion angle is all messed up), I will then take out the t-case drop and shim the axle if need be.
I will post Monday with results.
I am confident that it is the pinion angle (on mine) maybe something to check on yours as well. Good luck

Thanks man I look forward to seeing how it works out for you. I am also having a friend of mine look at it tonight to see what might be causing this issue. My springs were bent backwards also. Installing the AAL and new springs helped the look and ride so much... Minus the vibes.

Here is a few pics of the drive shaft. Let me know if you think this is too much of an angle. I know hard to tell for sure. Just opinions right now. I am trying to track down a gauge to see actual angle and compare to stock. All images can be seen here

What year and what engine T-case combo? Mos of the early XJs can get away with a modest lift and no vibes, but 97+ tend to have more issues due to differences in stock driveline and driveshaft lengths. You could try a small tc drop or just do an SYE. I did my SYE after fighting vibes with a tc drop for a year. Cost about $100 a few years ago using the PROC SYE.
