Radiator Question
Hi all, I was wondering if I could get some other Jeepers opinions. 8 months ago my custom built 3 core copper radiator got a leak when my motor mount snapped. Due to time constraints and a lack of a good radiator shop where I was I switched it out for a standard 2 core aluminum. I have read lots of specks and my husband thinks it will be ok, but I am concerned about the cooling needs of my jeep when we get into the hotter summer months. What is the opinion? Should I fix the copper 3 core or leave the 2 core aluminum? I have a 94 XJ with a 4.0 high output.

OEM was a single or 2 pass radiator, I don't remember which.. But Mine lasted 150000 in the XJ before the tree got it.. Replaced with 2 core. The ZJ had 300000 on the Factory radiator. Where I live average temps from July to August is 100 +-5. It will be 85 today.
I have NEVER, had any cooling issues in my jeeps. The only time it even creeps above normal is when creeping for hours on a hot day with the ac GOING. But even then it doesn't really get what I'd call HOT.
Point is 3 core radiator is NOT going to makeup for lax cooling system maintenance.

Thank you for the advice, I know my XJ ran cooler with the 3 core and now it is running a little hotter. I am concerned about the hotter temps during the summer months

When I got my XJ it had a 2 core in it and was constantly over heating even with new a thermostat. I had the Custom 3 core built and installed and I have not had an issue with over heating for 13 years. I keep all the maintenance up on my XJ. Flush the radiator when it is needed and I use distilled water only + antifreeze when it is low
