there are a lot of variations - the most desirable ones are rare and expensive, none you want will be cheap unless you're lucky

Rear ZJ coils on XJ front?
I hope this is the right place to post this question?
A friend told me that he moved his rear coils off his 1997 Grand to the front of the same vehicle to give 3 inches of lift - and had some new coils made for the rear.....
Seeing people here have suggested the front coils from a V8 would fit onto a XJ - My question is:
Would the coils from the rear of a Grand fit on the front of my 1995 XJ?
and would this result in the same (or thereabouts) 3 inch lift?
I have searched all over this site and could not find anything pertaining this.....
All help and advice would be appreciated.

rear coils from a ZJ or TJ will not fit the front of an XJ.
ZJ and XJ front coils interchange, by ZJ front coils will lift a XJ more than a ZJ (ZJ is heavier)
And there is no way your friend put his ZJ rear coils on the front and got lift - 1: they wouldn't fit, and 2: they would DROP the front, not lift it. If he swapped the front to the back it would work as described though...

track bar and lift questions
1999 cherokee 4.0 auto 4x4 currently with 2in pucks and shackles lift. Now I have been accumulating a craigslist/ Ebay lift to add to my bb. So far I have 3.5in coils$40. non adj tubular lca's $20. , jk shocks $45. , and rc shackle relocation $135. So my question is can i use just the front coils and just re drill and weld stock track bar bracket to keep axle centered or is that to much lift to Center axle. If that will work what if I milled my pucks down at work to one inch plus 3.5 coils and went for 4.5 lift. Could I use a stock track bar bracket for that lift height, modified of course. Im headed to trail jamboree in July in naches WA and just want to get on the trail with some more clearance but can afford adj track bar yet. Seen some used re adj track bars for $60. But not when I had cash.
