U want the angle iron 3" apart. Just off set it from the square tubing like 1/4" or u will have trouble getting a nut on the bolt.

Hey boss are the holes on the angle iron centered from top to bottom and by any chance do you have the measurement from where the 1st hole on the angle iron starts? Thanks

I definitely want to get this mod in the works. Have the materials sitting in the man cave, just have to do a lot of running back and forth to the shop at work for the press drill. Measurements would really speed up the process!

I used 2.5" x 2.5" angle iron. But I cut one side to 1 1/4".so that makes it 2.5" x 1.25" That side goes on the square tubing. Gives extra room to weld and off set. The angle iron is 7" long. The back of the angle iron is flush with back of tubing. The first hole is 1" from the bottom and 4 5/8" from back of angle iron. Any more forward and my shackle clasped flat. The distance from outside of angle iron and hitch is 7/8-1". That gives a 1/4" off set from where the angle sits on the tubing

One more question that you might've already answered.

What size holes are those? 1/2"?

1\2" bolt but I drilled 9/16 holes. 1\2" bolts have a bigger shoulder than the threads

I figured. How much slop/play does the 1/2" bolt have in the 9/16" hole?

The shoulder on a 1\2" bolt is a hair under 9/16". 1/16" or less just enough to put the bolt in without forcing it. It gives u enough wiggle room . The hole seems too big until u put the bolt in

I may have to dig through my scrap metal pile and make some of these tomorrow.

Just finished these up tonight and managed to get them welded together.

Thanks a million OP for the idea. Saved me like $120. I'll report back on the install, but have some pictures for now. I think they look identical to yours. My holes are a little sloppy (no drill press) but the bolts line up so i'm happy.

Mine are mostly done, just gotta do another pass on the welds and drill out the holes. 3 passes at 90 amps with 7018...I used 1/4 angle and 5/16 box lol. Damn things weigh over ten pounds each
I also put the space between the angle at 2-13/16" rather than 3" because my shackles measure 2-13/16 wide

Good call on the 2-13/16. I got mine installed a couple of days ago and there was a little slack in them, not much but you can see daylight. I will post pics when i get a chance. Ride has improved a ton. Now I don't feel like I am driving a BFV anymore!
