Looks good man. I like how you used the Dana 44 lockout Hub For the carrier spindle, and the wrench for the latch was a nice touch too.

Can we get a "how to" on what you did to make the hub work? What it came from, how you modified it, any issues welding it all together...etc? Inquiring minds want to know and all that!

The hub is a dana 44 ford hub , any manual locking hub should work the same way ,To make the hub work you gotta Leave the stub side of the axle in it and cut the ears off so it sits
Flush to the bottom of the hub and weld it to the base then grind the bottom completely flat so now your making it 2 pieces instead of 3 , so now the axle is part of the base instead of free floating like the axle is supposed as a stock set up

Uh... I think I followed that. Heehee! So did you use the spindle as well since that is what the bearings would ride on? Weld the spindle and axle to the bumper and then the outer hub assembly with bearing to the horizontal bar.?. Don't suppose you could be talked into pulling it apart and taking pictures, could you?
That would help a lot! I love the idea... even tried it using the hub assembly for a trailer but it was cast material and didn't care to be welded if you know what I mean? Please enlighten us... *bow*

Awesome... Thanks a bunch! Trying to get a swing out on a budget and using stuff wherever I can find it here in Germany. I can prob. dig up enough to make this type work... I hope.
And none of the stuff you used was cast... all good old steel, right?

well the hub itself is cast , but i didnt have any issues welding to it , i did throw to bolts thru the spindle into the bumper itself just has a back up and also to make sure everything was tight and flat when i welded it , as for the bumper , i welded 3/16" box tube to the back side and ran it inside the frame rail and made my own nut strips like a trailer hitch would mount , this thing is solid and can be used as a town point as well

Out-freakin'-STANDING! Guess I'll be spending more time in the junkyard soon. Thanks bunches for the idea, info, and link! Much happier since I didn't spend a bunch of moolah on "special" parts! WIN!
