The odd thing is the best condition XJ seats I could find were in a 2 door. There ain't no way I'm crawling into the back seat and doing those.

I was just thinking, as I took a turn a little faster than I wanted to...

That seat I had to swap into my 99 is from a 96, it has NO side support. If that's what you're after then I'd highly recommend it.

You can see it compared to a stock 99 seat.

Yes, that's exactly what I'm talking about. There is a nice '97 XJ in my Pick&pull and for $15 I can get a seat. I'll probably grab both of them. Somebody said something about a difference in height, is that true and what is the difference? From your pic, there doesn't seem to be any difference in the seat belt buckle height and they're mounted on the floor.

I used the same seat brackets that were in my 99.

That's a 96 seat swapped in my 99 using 99s seat brackets. The 96 has no sides lol.

$15 on seats is a steal too.

Oh and no not much of a height difference between those two as far as I can tell. Then again the original seat was broken to pieces.

Yeah, I noticed the door side bolster on my seat is collapsing. I was looking at the seat bolts in my WJ today and they are so close to the floor that I can't get a standard short socket and ratchet on them. I may have to dismount the seat from the floor and then change the brackets. It looks like that stupid rear seat heat duct is in the way.

The XJ seat fabric is a little lighter in color, but a nice set of seat covers will take care of that, if I feel like it. I parked next to an XJ at Wendy's the other day and SHE had a set of leopard covers on them. Not exactly my taste. (a pretty hot broad, BTW)

I noticed a huge hieght difference because my seat was so worn out. However it seemed to me the 03 WJ seats sat 1" taller than buddies factory perfect shape 98 xj seats.
I would think worst case if you WJ seats are sagging then u will proly come out tge same. I think its mainly the WJ seats are thicker with more padding.

If there is a significant difference I'll just add spacers under the bolts. Once in my life I bought a '61 Chevy Impala that someone had installed Corvair buckets in and spaced them up on 2X4s. I replaced the 2X4s with steel blocks, actually 2" rounds drilled thru and 4" long. Those seats never moved! The main reason I bought that car was the 327 and 4-speed that was in it.

Okay, reviving an old thread. I just got my XJ seats out of a 98 Cherokee Classic 2-door. I had to use a Gearwrench to get the nuts off the studs. Now to get some nice covers to match the fabric closer in color. I think I'll mount the driver's seat first to see how high it is before I spend the cash for the covers though.

There seems to be less room under the WJ seats so I may have to remove the whole bracket and track setup first then change the seat.

I found a real nice set of custom fit covers at Seat Covers Unlimited for $168. Both seats only cost me $34 at P&P.
