All 4 tires need to be the same diameter, Im sure they are but just saying. Search around for problems with the viscous clutch ( VC ) seems like a lot of people have problems with these at/or around 100-150k miles.

Its only normal if you have U-joints in the axle. Since you have CV joints then im going to say its you transfercase that needs repaird.
You said the AWD version. You have the quadratrac correct ? You viscous coupler is bad in the transfercase and needs replaced. The VC is $300 on ebay and this isnt counting labor costs to install. Your CV joints are most likely fine and its just the Viscous coupler, usually a bad CV joint will make poping noises when you turn not binding or wheel hoping.
You can continue driving it like this, just be more carefull when making sharp turns. If your in a buisy intersection and you cant make a fast enough or wide enough turn to lessen the binding then go around another way. When you make U-turns make wider u-turns to lessen the binding. Same goes for when you back out and turn the vehicle in the parking lot, just back out further so you have more room to make a wider turn. Basicly when the VC goes bad you are running at the split power front and rear wheels all the time, where as if the VC was working when you make turns it lessens power to the front wheels to make your turns smooth. However since its not working anymore then your AWD is working all the time now so when you turn the front wheels stay the same speed so it binds when you make sharp turns.
This can actually wear out your front tires faster then normal also, but if your carefull like i said you shouldnt have any problems. Either fix the viscous coupler buy puchasing the right one for your Jeep on Ebay and have it replaced by a mechanic. Or buy a Select trac transfer case that has the 2wd/4wd option and replace your quadra trac alltogether
Doing this will save the stress on your CV joints. I drive my 5.9 Grand cherokee with a bad VC and it doesnt bother me at all since i figured out how to go around the binding on super sharp turns. So im not concerned about fixing it right now.

Old fart with a wrench
My 97 ZJ 4.0 has u-joints up front and I get the same thing but only the right side. I found out my steering knuckle (king pin) is loose on that side. In 4 wheel lock, I don't notice it. It only happens in part-time 4wd. What's the scoop?

My 95has always binded up on sharp turns. I haven't really worried about it much tho, and I have also replaced the t case last year and it still binds. So I wouldn't worry about it too much.
