No, I don't lick fish.
Truggy already looks better than pickup. Hey, if you end up missing the bed that much though, you can always make skins out of the bedsides - baja truck style!

Thanks for the comments guys. Around here in michigan its much easier to find the short beds than it is to find the long beds. Though in general (long bed or short bed) they aren't too hard to find, condition wise is another factor. I've thought about doing bed skins but as it was, i would tag the pickup bed on tree's all the time and was turning into a beer can before i could even realize it. Bed skins would only continue the wrinkling and beer can-ing. Thus one of the reason i went for truggy style. Though i'm not completely over the bed skins, it may happen to one of the other MJ's i own down the road
Onto more progress.
built my gas tank cover and mounting base for my bed box. Also re-did my headliner XJ speaker bar and sun visors in woodland camo.

So after 2 days of awesome wheeling at the jeep blessing and a follow up day of wheeling some private club land I have destroyed an axle shaft and also destroyed my 4.56 gears in the Dana 30.
the u-joint wasn't even 3 days old
My "eh $hit happens girl" face
Instead of dumping more $ into my super D30 to get it back to wheeling status i figured its time for a solid upgrade... BEGIN the Dana 60 front.
The plan is to go with a narrowed LP dana 60 from a 90's Dodge pickup ( For simplicity of search and price). Re-tube the long side and do a custom length inner shaft. Wouldn't luck have it not even a day later i found one that was already narrowed and ready to be setup with brackets and goodies.
yes the axle is stuffed in the back of a 2002 Grand Prix GT. Sweet saggy goodness!!
its 3" wider than my stock width D30. Plan on a Grizzly locker, 4.56 gears, custom shafts, truss and possibly high steer setup.

So impatience has gotten the better of me... With great wheeling weather passing by me and my Club members heckling me for not being able to wheel, i've put a halt on the D60 build and went ahead and repaired the D30... All new gears and bearings, new inner axle seals, u-joints, wheel bearings, lower balljoints, pinion yoke and front driveshaft. I'm more or less back off the road.
I'll be pecking away at the D60 build this coming fall and winter, but for now its just enjoying the great summer Michigan weather!
oh yea, and with a visit from the Metal Cloak RV and trailer.... My MJ scores a 780 on the RTI ramp (with my limiting straps connected) Unfortunately didn't get a chance to run the ramp w/out the limiting straps.
A good shot of the backside to the MJ with all the new tube work done. Jeep Blessing 2014.
