Colorado Springs
Hey all, I'm looking to see who is around the Springs to start planning weekend trips and local trail rides. If anyone is interested, I think a couple of us are going up around Woodland this Sunday.

You guys in the Spring are lucky. Most of the trails down that way are open most of the year. (Gulches, Rainbow falls area, Mnt. Herman). Always planning trips down that way when the snow is flying. Also like a lot of trails down that way. Very busy next month but if you guys plan something in July-August on a weekend P.M. me, I would love to join up with you.

We are lucky to have lots of good trails, I just need to get my rig trail worthy, I have a stock 01' XJ.
I am only the second owner, and its got 210k on it. She was my daily driver and now I am looking to rehab her and turn her into a nice rig, but it will take me a while to do on the shoe string budget I have for her.
I've been looking to try to meet up and get to know some folks down here, the few other Joes I have talked to already have their rigs built so it's a case of when you get rig done then come talk to us.
I just need to get some garage time in on her.

I hear you on getting things trail ready. But to be honest if it runs well (everything healthy). It is very capable for moderate trails. You are very lucky to be working from a stock vehicle, instead of a pre-lifted rig. You are correct about hanging out with gear-heads, it is the best way to economically get your rig where you want to be. You should join Front Range 4x4 (non-vehicle specific but you will met many XJ owners) and others clubs like it so that you can met people, you are bound to met some one that are going to be helpful in your quest. (you will also met some you will likely want to avoid or just learn to ignore). I must say I am lucky to have bought a trail ready rig that despite me redoing nearly every thing it has taken me there and back every time so far (knock on wood) from the get-go. I don't mind doing trails that your XJ can do once I get past all that is planned in June. (in fact even if my rig can do those more difficult trails I would rather limit them because of the wear and tear it does to both you and your rig).

Word ya Stella is a little tired, got the usual oil leaks, low oil pressure, and I gotta get a fresh set of tires on her. Her leaf springs are sagging real bad no lift in those at all.
I have a set of rims that I'm going to put the new tires on, and I also picked up a ford 8.8 axle from FN jeep down here in the springs for 50 bucks, that I am going to rebuild.
Keep me posted if you are ever down this way maybe we can meet up.

Just wanted to share with you that there's a few clubs in town. Colorado Springs 4x4 Group can be found on fb and meetup. We don't discriminate, but the Jeeps seem to outnumber the others which is never a bad thing!
I have a stock 01xj with a rear locker and a vapor lock issue.. working on that.
I'm always looking for a few ppl to wheel with apart from the group.. I should be on some trail at least one day of every weekend.

You know you have a real JEEP if you use your ice scraper to scrape the mud off all your windows!!!

You know with as many stock and lifted XJ's I see on a daily basis in the Springs, you'd think this thread would be way more active.
Thinking about trying to do a meet up at Rudy's just to get something going is anyone up for it?

I am going to run some trails in the Manitou Springs area on Sept. 18 with my brother in law. They are in town from Florida and renting a cabin/home for a week. My wife and I are staying the weekend with them.
I'm planning on Schubarth road, but might do other trails as well.
I know you want to run trails with other XJ owners but join up with a club that isn't so inclusive will allow to go up and safely tackle trails. With Front range there is usually at least 2-3 XJ's running with the group.
This is a guy's XJ that went on one of the clean-up runs.

Hey guys, Im new to the site. I live in Florissant. About an hour west of the Springs. If you guys go around Woodland or Divide count me in. Always nice to meet new people. There are a lot of moderate trails by my house that even stock vehicles can have fun on.
