Where is the Tach Wire to hook up an aftermarket Tachometer?

Default Where is the Tach Wire to hook up an aftermarket Tachometer?

i just bought a 96 cherokee country v6 and i need to know where the tach wire is at to hook up an after market tacho . please anyone help would be awsome and pics would be great!!!

idk where the wire is but swapping in an xj gauge cluster that already has a tach would be easier if you just wanted the tach.

you have to tap into one of the 2 wires that go into the ignition coil (cant remember which one).

I mounted mine here too.

Mine is wired to act just like a stock gauge, light dim and everything.

The neg. side of the coil will be the input wire that you need to hook up too. Usually a green wire for the tach, red for power, black for ground, and white or yellow for the back light.

Its a i6not a v6, simple look under the hood would tell you that.
Just watch the video (which is not mine, btw). Green=Tach White=gauge dim (I used the pos wire to my shifter lights) red=Pos black=Neg. Not hard to do.
Use a wire tap, or strip off the insulation and wrap it in electrical tape.

awsome guys ,thanks for the help. Defiance 665 you said you hooked up your shifter light to the possetive wire.. well there were 3 wires he picked from in that video do you know which one it was? or is the possetive located somewhere else? as for now i just havea shift light and ordered a new tach from glowshift.com
