speedometer quit working

speedometer quit working
i just got done swaping an ABS system on my 1990 cherokee for a non-ABS system out of an 1988 cherokee. could this cause my speedometer to quit working or could it be somthing else

Don't know anything about ABS but the Renix Jeeps have a cable that runs the speedometer, so that should not have any bearing on the ABS changeover you did IMO.
Check the speedo gear as it is nylon and easily stripped or worn. It may need to be replaced. Use a drill to check that the speedo is working when you disconnect it at the tranny/transfercase end. If it is working then mark the adapter housing before you remove it (it has to go back in the exact spot) See if the gear needs to be replaced. If it does then count the teeth and order one to replace your bad one.
