Leave the petcock alone. They are in a bad location and they aren't exactly over designed. Meaning they often break.

Pop the lower hose.

Done.

i just finished my i bought a kit at wal-mart that allowed you to hook up a hose so you can run clean water through it. all you have to do is to cut one of the straight part of the hose put in a connecter for that water hose, take off the pressure cap and put in a different hose and let your jeep run and the anti-freeze will run out.

If u use one of those heater hose T connectors and don't disconnect/remove the bottom rad hose to drain the system, any loose/solid crud from the heater core and motor settle into the bottom of the radiator. Kinda hard to flush crud from the bottom of the rad out the top. If the bottom, however many tubes, of the rad are full of sediment from the core/motor, then that portion of the rad is essentially rendered useless.

Yeah, but the GOOD thing is many more minerals are coming OUT than you are putting IN!

I couldn't find the petcock on my 2000. I didn't look very hard, just popped the lower hose off like so many others. Things are packed in pretty tight in this engine compartment, I am not a big fan of burying the rad INSIDE the rad support, but it does keep the nose short on a long engine.

Mine had a headgasket history and I had NO heat in the cab after repair. I bought the Prestone "super" flush, about $1 more than the regular stuff, and put it in for most of a week. Well, it worked great. Pulled the heater core hoses and backflushed the core several times. Backflushed the rad and the block. Lots of junk came out. BIG improvement in cab heat.

Default easy to reach from below

I found it easy to reach from below on my 92 Comanche 4.0. I just got on the ground (with safety glasses on) and reached up and unscrewed.
