O -rings
I would go to the dealer for the O-rings. I owned a Vintage MB coupe for years and the oil filter used a seperate O-ring and the ones from the parts houses were always just a little thiner than stock. I always went to the MB dealer for my filters, no leaks ever. I have read the same on here for the oil filter housing.

Both NAPA and Autozone carry them, not sure why you didn't find them. Quick search on both sites had results of Felpro gaskets brand.
