so i was trying to figure this out while back.... i came to fact that my tcase is the problem... again 94 xj when engaged in to 4 low... it pops the more u accelerate... replace the front u joint.. the other joints were all dandy .... anyways bolted back on still clunked...... so tore off the front drive line and again engaged in 4 low say noise....assuming its the tcase????????????????

and i peeped on good ol craigslist and $100 -125 for np231 ....around same miles as mine so im figuring not long until its in same problem with those tcases......... im assuming the chain is stretched and skipping.... i found a kit w/

-Bearings
-Seals
-Gaskets
-Chain
Price: $189.99------------ i rather go down this road ya know...


any advice on this ???im sure cant be toooo bad??? my buddy is pretty legit mechanic and i aint too bad myself i have all tools , shop available....has anyone done a rebuild any info would be koooolll....

Try this: put it in 4wd low and remove the REAR drive shaft, then go test drive it.

 

x2 , could be your rear ds and not your front

 

i dont think so cuz it dont do it in 2 wheel drive..
