Alright I pulled the starter back off and tested it. The starter is good. I pulled the starter cables up on top of the engine and hooked the starter up wiggled wires and nothing. Everyone time I turn the key to on its like my jeep is in a fail safe mode. I'm ****ing lost on this and I really don't want to take it to a shop. Seems like im not getting power to the starter. No clicks today

Ok little update I guess.
Went down to the auto store bought a multi meter. I did a continuity test on my positive terminal cable from the battery to the starter. It beeped so the wire is good there. Then I went from the positive wire to the fuse block. It beeped so I'm good there. Then I went from the I believe is the ignition switch from the starter back to where it has a plug and tested that. It beeped so that's good. Then I checked the ignition switch before ad after the plug and it beeped. So now idk what else to check and my battery reads 12.4v.

If you meter the voltage right on the pos solenoid terminal, it should stay about the same, just guessing, say within 1/2 a volt, of what the battery is doing when you crank it. If it tanks the cable isn't passing the current. Also a wire or connection with excessive resistance makes heat. (a wire or cable that is fine will also get hot if it's trying to pass more than it's rated for, (of course!))
The idea there was the cable might test fine......if just one tiny strand was OK the meter will show a good connection. Passing the amps to start it is the question, hence the voltage drop idea.

Well I got it to start by doing the relay trick. Read on a thread where you pop the cap of the relay and push with your finger the little "lever" over and it cranks the starter and fires right up. So every I gotta start my rig pop the hood pull the cover off the fuse block pop the cap off the relay push the lever and vrrrooooom!
I came down to the conclusion my NSS took a poop. But my reverse lights work.... Idk I'll redneck start it for now

On my 90, I think it's the green wire from the relay needs to put good voltage to the solenoid to start it. If you hear a click it's probably not the NSS.

Well, here's a thing on the NSS; http://bc4x4.com/tech/2010/jeep-neut...ty-switch-nss/ If your battery terminals and all are nice and shiny and you have 12 something volts and it's not clicking you might want to look at that.
There's a rod form your cylinder to the switch down low on the column. I don't think your switch slides to adjust like on a Renix. Don't know if your switch might have a security screw.
You have good connections at the relay?
I believe the key gives power to the relay, which must be grounded by the NSS for it to start. Good luck!
Nothing to do with your cluster, but do you have 7 relays in a row in the PDC? If so the starter is second from the rear. Next forward is the ASD, but the one after that is just the AC clutch, and you can swap them. Pretty easy to do, then then you could rule that out. (check/clean the connectors)

I'm having a really bad couple days trying to diagnose my problem. My jeep will not start. Just happened out of the blue 2 days ago.
First thing I did was check fuses.
Secondly I pulled the starter thinking that was bad cuz it would just give a clunk noise and that would be it.
Replaced the starter and still nothing. This time I'm not getting a click or a clunk noise. When I turn the key nothing happens but shuts like the radio off and the blower motor stuff like that which I heard was a good thing.
Searched around found out how to bypass the starter relay by pulling the cap off and manually making your starter work. An it worked!!! I was so happy I could drive again until I pulled away and the jeep just died. Now the volt gauge isn't reading anything but zero. (new battery 1000 cranking amps).
Now I'm just lost on what my problem is. I need my jeep for work and I skipped two days of work trying to figure this out.
I busted out the multimeter did some poking around before this happened and my readings were good.
Any help would be awesome and hints or similar problem you all have had and ways of fixing them would be great. But as of right now I'm off to go buy a 136 amp alternator and 2 cps!
