It does not in this application. He said it sprayed out the fuel rail. If it's spraying out the rail then it will spray out the injectors. Enough to fire. First things first.

First things first? You've got him over $200 in parts already with no firm diagnosis.

Out the pressure tester fitting then. Not the actual injectors.

So he has spark and no fuel since it runs on starting fluid.

Keep in mind though that "pressure" is a relative term to the layman........

Yea this is true. So i will concur that by having an actual psi reading we all are on the same page.

Why cause confusion in this thread? I meant these things need to be considered and tested.

He asked a specific question and I answered his question. I did not tell him to replace the parts.

Exactly, OP stated "Fuel pump and fuel filter are good and gas is flowing." If I open a faucet and water just begins to drip is that not "flowing"? A fuel pressure test using a gauge is quick and the ideal place to begin. One can borrow the gauge from Vatozone for FREE!

lol - popcorn
i could go for that right about now though i think the smell would make my stomach turn.

I been laying in bed, still sick but thank you for the concern.

I too thought maybe a bad tps or cps or something else related to no spark; but when it started on starting fluid i dismissed that thought like a fart in the wind. I can always revisit it later.

I too am also only considering it to be a fuel delivery problem, when i saw that it was not coming out the injectors i suppose my brain stopped there and couldnt see past that, I didnt think about pressure testing, which is why i came here looking for advice from others.
In the mean time, I was just trying to get other ideas of things I could look at and test before I had to do anything labor intensive and/or start replacing parts. But I will go to AZ & borrow a tester and test it out sometime later this week & report back, today I am going to stay in bed as its like 40 degrees out and I am still sick and I have to go to work in a few more hours..

Sounds good. Hope you get better. Also "cps" crank position sensor. Not an issue with your current problem. "Cps" camshaft position sensor. A strong consideration to your problem. As it directly effects injector function.
Actually on my own jeep the only way it would run was with me dumping fuel into the intake. Had pressure at the rail. Turned out to be a bad camshaft position sensor. My injectors would not work with the camshaft position sensor not functioning.

87-90 Renix Jeeps will run fine with the cam sensor unplugged. It ain't that.

87 may not have it, but the later Renix have a ceramic ballast resistor on the drivers inner fender near the airbox. It's just there to knock a few volts off the fuel pump voltage to quiet it down. If you do have one you might check it's connections and verify that you have around 10V coming out the rear to the pump.

Mine is a 2000. I should have noticed the year of the op's. I am not for certain on the older models cps.

Yea, different for the Renix. CPS reads 3 marks 120* apart for three opposite pairs of cyls. All that "stator" does is clue the ECU which pair is up. The ECU will figure it out pronto even without that signal.

i have a 87 that is my DD and off road play thing

But the one I'm working on is a 96. I didnt drive it anywhere but I started the engine up every month and put 2 gal fresh gas in it every other start up. And then I would let it run for a while, went to start it for its monthly run 2 weeks ago and nothing. That's what brought us here today.
