Help jeep wont go in gear!!!
Left my house last night went through all the gears no problem. Stopped at stop sign and wouldnt go in gear. I have good pedal, fluid is full and no leaks. The shifter only moves left and right. You cant even force it into gear or make it even grind. Got pulled home and it wont even slip into gear. Thanks for the help

im assuming this is a manual jeep.
it sounds the shift forks are in a bind. which would be a hassle. ive had this issue before with a suzuki samurai so if it was one of those i could tell you exactly how to fix it, but as ive never even had this issue or seen a jeep manual transmission i cant tel you for sure.
my guess is the shift rod is being held in by a spring loaded retraining clip. which you'd have to push down and slightly move clockwise to release it.
once thats done the shift stick should come right out of the tranny and if you look down in the hole you should be able to see the shift forks.
please someone correct me if thats entirely wrong because this is just me guessing.

I cant correst you yet cause i havent had a chance to mess with it yet. And yes it is a 5 speed. Does anyone know if there is a access panel around the shifter. Its a 93 sport.

The "access panel" is just a bezel with the rubber boot over it. It's held on by clips, so all you need to do is pry on one side a little bit and the bezel will pop out. Then you can unscrew the shift **** and remove the boot and bezel.

HELP!!! Just changed transfercase
I just changed my transfercase in my 1989 Jeep Cherokee, but my plug in top is a four prong and the wire is a two prong. What's the purpose of that wire?
Jeep won't go in gear now. I'm sure that's why, just need to be certain so I can fix ASAP
