Heater valve fix
So, I wasn't getting much heat outta my 1990. Checked the heater valve and it was actuating properly BUT it was only opening a crack! Bent arm as shown so the valve actually opens fully and viola, heat!

I agree with the others. Just remove it and by-pass it and you wont have to worry about that part breaking again.
Just make sure to plug off the vacuum hose to it.

I'm sure you guys read my story about them. Burned the crap outta me when it disintegrated while doing an oil change on a nicely warmed up engine.

Here's another thought on HCVs.
All spring/summer/fall, depending where you live, coolant stays stagnant in the heater core ............until winter.

They SUCK!!!
My Tahoe has that set up. When I bought it from my brother he just had the heater core replace the year before and the first time I had to use the heater the core sprang a leak.

Temperature is controlled through your blend door in the box. Weird that eliminating your HCV would cause this.
