that's the way i break them loose. i also use another technique but it can cause the bolt to break. so i usually don't use it except as a last resort

that's why i gave the suggestion i did. it seems to be more bolt friendly when used then the other way i have done it. i like to soak any bolt with pb blaster for at least a couple hours, longer if possible. it works good for me. i tend to buy things that's been sitting for years with out being touched. with the pb blaster soak and the pipe for leverage. i haven't broke a bolt off yet but i will admit i have been lucky

old trick i use on Rustangs....
get a breaker bar and position it on the bolt so its resting against the power steering box, but is snug against it so it doesnt move.
back away 5 feet and give the starter a little jolt. itll be a loud bang but it should bust that ***** loose, just do little bumps on the ignition though, should only take once sometimes twice.
make sure to reposition the bar every attempt.

That sounds like it would be hard on your starter and worse on your ring gear.

you mean fly wheel? and no not really, starter can turn the block under compression, so a little jolt aint shiz
its a last resort that ALWAYS works

I'll try the PB Blaster way fist...lol! A guy at work said I need to remove the oil pan before I take the harmonic balancer off, is that right? To get that off I have to undo something else right? sorry trying to go off memory and it's not working.

50% acetone + 50% ATF mixture > PB blaster.
