Electrical problems.
Hello all i have a slight problem. My 2000 XJ Sport has some type of electrical problem. If i roll my drivers side window all the way down, open the door and take the key out of the ignition it locks my doors. Also, it does it from time to time when the window it up but its hit and miss, it will do it everytime that window it rolled all the way down. Also my windshield wipers will not park when i turn them off. They stop right as soon as i turn them off. It never did this till the dealership replaced the drivers side window controls. I would take it back and have them fix it, but i'm kinda in a tight spot being i worked for General Motors, and they closed my plant down. With the lack of funds i'm going to have to rip into it myself and fix the problem once i figured out where to start looking. Any help would be greaty appreciated.
Thanks, Justin

Sorry to hear about the plant closing . Hope something good comes around. I had similar problems with my 96 cherokee. After many years with the windows and door locks working fine, the windows would not go down in cold temperatures. Usually below 25 degrees, but would work when the temperature rose above the mid 30's. I thought the main drivers window controls were going bad and almost replaced them. I read somewhere that the cable harness that runs from the dash through the door to the switches, over time tend to break wires due the constant opening and closing the door. Especially on the drivers door which gets the most usage. The wire harness does have a relief bend, but still takes a lot of bending and movement. Sounds like the dealer just replaced the switches and did not check all the individual wires. I had 5 wires in this bundle broken that needed soldering to fix. After the wires were repaired the windows and locks works fine. Hope this helps as a starting point.

yeah the door bundle wiring gets old and cracks and will ground out but this would not be all your issues but that would still be the first place i would look. as for the wipers i am unsure if they are tied together but one step at a time

Since you didn't have the problem until after the dealer performed service in that door, I'd take it back and raise hell with the service manager demanding they correct the problem free of charge. I wouldn't stop until the dealership manager gave me satisfaction. With the current position that Chrysler's in, I wouldn't put it off either. Stand firm and do it tomorrow!
And sorry to hear about your job. Something will work out.
