Yes. Maybe a little less lately. Oh! the Jeep!, yea normally. The "seeking" is pretty rare. Like I said, "on the right slope, with the right wind". If I feel like I'm lugging on a grade I'll hit it, otherwise I'm after the MPG's.

You're not gaining MPGs in Comfort mode.

After changing fluid and driving it some it doesn't seem to have helped the downshifting. I plan on draining and change fluid again in the next week or two. Doing research I read the shift solenoid can go out. How would I go about testing those? Could that be a possible probably?

If you want to take dirty ATF out of the equation, you know what to do.
Yes, faulty solenoids can cause shifting problems, but more things can cause this.
adjusting your TV cable (not television) is free and sometimes helps. Do a search on something called "free quick fix" or something similar, for the procedure to do this.

Solenoids can be tested with a meter.

Try doing post 10 in my Tips link below now.

Change the fluid again soon.

I thought lower RPM's, closer to, or in the torque band were more efficient.
Higher RPM, up out of the torque band, less efficient.
Hence 5 and six speed trannys, two speed diff's. Maybe I missed something?

Yes, you did. Larger throttle openings in order to maintain the same speed in lower gear result in lower manifold vacuum, yielding less than optimal performance and economy.

Well you know how stubbart I am, guess this isn't the place to "duke it out". (and yes, it's spelled with two "B's, and a "t"). I dug in my heals and told my sister so!

I wonder if there is some way we could figure out if the OP has an adjustable TPS or not?

Try the Power mode. If you were gonna lose MPGs, would the factory later defaulted to the Power mode when they were chasing MPG standards? Uh, no.
