So most of my life I drove a tiny little hyundai...
But NOW I have an XJ. Sadly when I turn it makes a clicking noise.
No idea what it is and the my XJ in general doesn't seem to be well taken care of (changed the oil the first day I had it and it came out about 2qts of black sludge).
Any help would be appreciated.

mine is doing that too. haven't had the chance to look close at it yet though. i suspect the axle u-joint or hub bearing. at over 200k on mine i'll probably replace both just for the hell of it.

I'm at over 200k too. Sounds like it's as good of a starting point as any.

Most likely axle shaft u joint. Check both sides for play.
You can also get the jeep of the ground and spin the wheel by hand while having the steering in several different positions listening for noises and feeling for spots where it wants to bind up.

I never even considered doing that! Thanks for the advice.
