Default AX-15 pilot bearing size differences

Ok

my XJ has an internal slave AX-15, and turns out that I bought one with an external slave, wish I had noticed in the beginning.

Anyways, the input shaft portion that goes into the pilot bearing is larger on the external slave one

.75" compared to .59"

I have been searching around, and it seems like you have to order one
But I did find a thread on another website that said that if you got a pilot bushing off of a 1972 CJ with the 304 and the T-15 it would work

Does anybody know about this?

Please help

we had the new one in there ready to go, but it wouldnt go the last inch or so, and I measured the pilot shaft and saw the differences

Ok just found some specs and part numbers and thought I would share

the external slave AX-15s have a pilot bearing with an ID of 0.7518 inches, and an OD of 1.8161 inches, depth of 0.565 inches (OE part number 53009181 )

the internal slave AX-15s have a pilot bearing with an ID of 0.5934 inches, and an OD of 1.055 inches, depth of 0.719 inches (OE part number 33004041)

If you are using an external slave AX-15 in an older 4.0 you will need an adapter pilot

So I did some research and a pilot bushing out of an early 70s CJ with a 304 V8 and the T15 will work

It has a pilot bearing with an ID of 0.751 inches, and an OD of 1.056 inches, depth of 0.88 inches

National part number PB77HD and Dorman part number 14674
