, I've wheeled harder and for far longer in my 2008 FJ with the OP than the other two FJ owners and I've never had a bilstein break in the same exact spot such as the guys above with their 2010. The known issue from bilstein which had also poisoned their raceing division was because of their automated welder in 2010- ?. My bushing wore out causing metal to metal contact and it sheered off. Ill upgrade to Fox and a long travel set up for overland with an emphasis on high speed desert driving once the 5100's die. Tyler and I have wheeled some fun stuff! He's recovered me... I've recovered him Good times!
Is that the Cookie Monster?

Awesome thread. Reminds me of stuff I need to do on my XJ, and why we own Jeeps. Well done.

Sorry for being absent the last 2 years Tyler. Been busy moving halfway across the world.
Just got caught up on this thread from 2015 and on. Tell Richter he still has a baby face.
Of all your proposed projects:
I'd personally do frame stiffeners in conjunction with long arms. I'm happy to help with the design. My wife's turned out great! All home made, but I'd highly recommend having another daily driver set aside for the many weeks the Jeep will be down. Unless you buy an out-of-the-box kit, you can't fab up your own long arms in a weekend...but that kinda sounds like a challenge I'd take on.

New Start
Well gents I've been off the radar for some time. I've since had to grow up and swap out my XJ for something a little more road trip worthy.... a lesbaru forester.
After being an adult for a long moon I got the jeep itch again. It's not an XJ but I hope you all agree it's a good repayment and not a bad base for another project. 2005 jeep unlimited, 6 speed manual and only 9,000 miles. Yes only 9,000 miles.
