relocation brackets are a good investment if your springs "fit" or not. you wanta good shackle angle.
and honestly most ppl know what they are, they are very respected and I have seen them used and positions changed often.
the only way to get them without the holes is to make your own.
I wil vouch for the practicality and durability of them. 3 of my good wheeling buddies use them hard

Sounds pretty good. I know people who are knowledgable on off road products would know the purpose of a shackle relocation bracket, but like I stated earlier... I'm one of MAYBE ten lifted cherokee's within an hour radius... not many people know much about them. My general crowd is the family of four shopping at the same store I'm at and walking past my Jeep checking it out in the parking lot. Those people fear the Jeep enough watching it drive down the road, I don't want them thinking it's pieced together out of scrap metal and going to fall apart in front of them. Maybe I could mock something up to cover the unused holes (thin sheet metal or something) just so it looks "normal" to the untrained eye.

I guess I can't argue with that logic. I'm going to have to look up proper shackle angles and such. I like to be prepared before I just jump in.

i think a major problem you going to have is when a leaf spring compresses it get longer pusing the shackle towards the rear yours are so far forward dont think they will swing back at all

just throwing this out there, i cant remember if XJ's have a offset centering pin or if this has anything to do with it.
if you put them in backwards with the wrong end twards the shackle wouldnt it effect the shackle angle and pull it forward like it is?

Wow that's not right. I'd be talking to the lift company. If not, get the relocation brackets, figure out Which holes you need to use and cut the rest off. Problem solved. It's not a big deal. That thing must have about .0000002" of down travel.

I would check into this before getting the shackle relocation brackets. Short side (from center pin to leaf eye) should be toward the front. So it should be longer from center pin to rear eye than it is from center pin to front eye.

the springs not going to get longer only the rear axle will be moved forward or back if somethings three feet long and one foot from thee nd theres a pin if you turn it around its still three feet long and now the pin is two feet from the same end

the centering pin only effects the axle location on the leaf. not the leaf length, this is not your problem.
a shackle should be at 45* at ride height (full vehicle weight) these are beefy. you want to talk about sheet metal look at the uni-body or your factory shackle mounts lol.... these are 1/4"
I have these on my Cherokee. I have 1" lift shackles and it raised my rear end about 1 inch after installing these. lift shackle or not it will cause the same lift, the position on the body is changed the same amount. 1-1.5" depending on shackle angle you set it at.
you shouldn't see the brackets at all unless you look from underneath or hacked a lot of body away. these are strong, when I installed mine I welded them to the body.
installed (looking from below jeep)

looking straight on from the side

the ride was a TON better with mine, and mine was straight up and down. not fully forward like yours.

As stated before, the centering pin wouldn't change the length of the leaf spring. I would like to state though that xj leaf springs cannot be installed backwards... One eye is larger than the other and they won't fit backwards.
My Xj rides like a full ton pickup.... I have to decide whether or not what I put in the trunk is fragile enough to be broken by the rough ride. I've had many friends tell me that my real wheels hop over bumps rather than riding over them. I don't necessarily *mind* it.... It kinda makes the jeep seem tougher to be honest, just sucks living in Pennsylvania sometimes.
With longer shackles and relocation brackets would I be able to improve the shackle angle?
